France: Kang-in powers PSG
Lee Kang-in and Bradley Barcola both scored twice in the first half as Paris Saint-Germain shrugged off their latest UEFA Champions League woes to win 4-2 at Angers on Saturday, the perfect response to a comeback victory for nearest challengers Monaco.
Korea Republic star Lee came in as one of five changes to the PSG line-up made by head coach Luis Enrique following the last-gasp midweek defeat at home to Atletico Madrid, and he wasted little time making an impact.
Lee opened the scoring on 17 minutes with a shot that crossed the line before Angers defender Jordan Lefort managed to clear, and he struck again just three minutes later from Marco Asensio’s low centre.
Barcola, Ligue 1’s leading scorer, then took centre stage by firing in his team’s third goal just after the half-hour mark and adding another with a header from Lee’s cross to make it 4-0 in first-half stoppage time.
PSG took the foot off the pedal late on, allowing 15th-placed Angers to score twice in stoppage time at the end of the game through a fine volley by Esteban Lepaul and an Emmanuel Biumla goal.
However, that did not change the outcome and while PSG are struggling with four points from four games in the Champions League, in Ligue 1 they are unbeaten and six points clear of second-placed Monaco.
Japan’s Takumi Minamimo was substituted late in the game as Monaco defeated Strasbourg 3-1.
Japanese forward Keito Nakamura scored the second goal as Reims defeated Le Havre 3-0 to move up to 17 points and seventh in the standings.
Jordan’s Mousa Tamari, reinstated in the starting lineup after recovering from injury, played for 73 minutes as Montpellier beat Brest 3-1 for only their second win of the season.

Japan’s Wataru Endo came on as an 87th minute substitute for Alexis Mac Allister in Liverpool’s 5-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday, with the victory taking the Reds five points clear at the top of the table.
Liverpool surging clear was thanks to Brighton’s 2-1 defeat of Manchester City, with Kaoru Mitoma playing his part in the win before being replaced by Jakub Moder in the 90th minute.
Japan’s Daichi Kamada was sent off in the 76th minute as Crystal Palace suffered a 2-0 defeat against Fulham, with the loss leaving the London side seven points and 17th in the standings.
Australia’s Cameron Burgess played a full game in Ipswich Town’s 2-1 upset of Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Massimo Luongo came on in second-half stoppage time for Ipswich. It was the side’s first victory in the Premier League this season, lifting them out of the relegation zone.
Spain: Kubo’s Sociedad stun Barcelona
Takefusa Kubo played the entire match as Real Sociedad edged La Liga leaders Barcelona 1-0.
The win took the Japanese star’s side to 18 points and eighth in the standings, two points adrift of Athletic Club and Real Betis as Sociedad continue their revival after a slow start to the season.
Italy: Taremi makes cameo appearance in Inter draw
Islamic Republic of Iran international Mehdi Taremi went on as an 82nd minute substitute for Marcus Thuram as Inter Milan settled for a 1-1 draw against Napoli.
The stalemate meant Napoli hung on to the Serie A top spot with 26 points, just one ahead of Inter, Atalanta and Fiorentina.
Germany: Jae-sung shines for Mainz

Australia’s Jackson Irvine played a full game as St Pauli were edged out 1-0 by Bayern Munich, who had the ever reliable Kim Min-jae on the pitch throughout the match, with the Korea Republic international picking up a yellow card.
Japanese midfielder Koji Miyoshi came on as a substitute in the 69th minute in VfL Bochum’s 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen.
Korea Republic midfielder Jeong Woo-yeong featured for the duration as Union Berlin settle for a goalless draw with Freiburg.

Hwang In-beom scored the opening goal as Feyenoord cruised 4-1 past Almere City FC, with the win moving the Korea Republic international’s side up to fourth in the standings on 25 points, eight adrift of leaders PSV Eindhoven.
Max Balard – who has just been called up to his first Australia squad – played the full 90 minutes in NAC Breda’s 3-0 defeat to PSV Eindhoven.
Koki Ogawa got the ball rolling in NEC Nijmegen’s 3-0 defeat of RKC Waalwijk, with the Japanese midfielder finding the back of the net in the 68th minute.
